Results 53-178 (29.8%) +$7.00 (53-23-25) (56.7% ITM)
On Sunday, Red Sherry, the 2nd race favorite made a middle move to the stretch and then flattened out finishing out of the money. In my contenders only selections, the 3rd race exacta returned $9.40. Salvation was to have come in the form of $8.10-1 Fidgety Felon who was leading by four at the top of the backstretch in the 10th and looked like a winner before abruptly pulling up and out of the race, causing me to repeat over and over "I am not invincible, I am not invincible, I am not..." So it goes.
Horses to Watch - On Sunday, in the 6th, Unconditional ran into some traffic problems but was absolutely flying late and getting up for second at $9.10-1. Will be looking to make amends next time out in another sprint for David Hinsley.
There are about 20 race days left to the 2007-2008 season and I still have a fighting chance of remaining profitable. Stay with me, you'll be glad you did.
Selections for Tuesday:
1st - DD 1,6/9,10 and Trifectas 3,4,5/1,6/1,6
2nd - Exacta Box 9,10 and Trifecta keys 3/7,9,10 and 7/3,9,10
3rd - A soft wager, Lookatme Afleet (PP10). Comment in last says "Failed to respond" but I don't see it that way. LA was gaining on Savannah's Wish (PP5) (who had a perfect trip and won't get another today) in the final strides and would have caught him if they were going 7F. There was one length separating those two at the wire. This afternoon, they are going 7F. Lookatme Afleet put up a 70 in that race. Today's par is 64. LA comes back in 12 days for Ness/Centeno and they want another bite at the apple. Intern (PP1) had a respectable 63 in last on a WF surface going 7F, figures to improve this afternoon. Dry Ice (PP8) has raced forwardly all season at the route and almost stole one last April at 6 1/2F at the Downs. I'll bet LA to win and a 10/1,8 exacta box for a saver.
4th - Exacta box 2/5,8,9
5th - A soft wager, Dixieland Drummer (PP2). DD posted a par fig at the distance on the grass last fall at Woodbine. Has only had four starts and two of those were on the dirt. First over at TBD at 1 3/8ths miles on the grass six days ago is not to be taken seriously. The fastback second start is ringing my bell. Sir George (PP4) ran a par race at the distance on 3/18, should be right there again today. I'm betting DD to win and trifectas 2/4/1,5,7 and 2/1,5,7/4.
6th - Exacta box 2,7,8 (Volcanic Force (PP2) in rare form, Fizzy Pop (PP7) was flying late in last, My Privileged (PP8) raced with the best in last.) It's these three, but who wins?
7th - Exacta box 3,7,9
8th - A soft wager, Crafty Grey (PP8). Last two were well above par on the grass, even after a grass to dirt adjustment. Has raced with better all season. Took one on the dirt at the distance in January. Much the best. Sister Nan (PP5) popped at the route two back, should be there today. I'll bet CG to win and a 58/58/1,3,7 trifecta.
9th - A soft wager, Spy Story (PP5). Zwiesler is deadly with dropdowns (4 for 4 last season). Spy Story has raced well going l-o-n-g. First time over was 12 days ago. Today they mean business. I'm betting Spy Story to win and a 5/2,8 exacta box for a saver and a 5/1,3,9 Daily Double.
10th - Exacta box 1,3,9
Good luck and good racing!
