Tampa Bay Downs Selections - 04/29/08

On Sunday, my soft wager in the 1st, Knockmanagh won going away, and paid $2.80. Among my contenders only selections, my early double returned $8.40, my 2nd race $12 exacta box returned $24.00, in the 5th, my $12 exacta box clicked for $63.40, in the 7th my $4 exacta box returned $19.60, in the 8th my $12 exacta box returned $51.60, in the 9th my $4 exacta box returned $36.00 and my $8 late double wager returned $29.80. It was my biggest winning day of the season and it was even better because I was at the Downs and watched it all happen from the grandstand. So it goes…

On Tuesday, a mixed bag with a maiden claimer in the 2nd with 11 horses with a speed rating of 0 (as in zero) and two great Optional Claimers, one on the grass (5th) and one on the dirt (8th). It's gonna be tough to top my performance on Sunday, but Johnny B. has been on a roll for the past two weeks. So here it goes again...

Tuesday's selections:

1st - Exacta box 1,2 and saver exactas 1,2/3 and 3/1,2

2nd - Tri key 1/5,6,7,9/5,6,7,9 (or better yet, pass this race altogether.)

3rd - A soft wager, Holiday Blaze (PP7). In her first at the rock bottom MC8000 level, vied and weakened at 6F and posted the equivalent of a 44 after five furlongs in that race (today's par is 53). No other horse in today's race can say as much. The fastback (7 days) puts my antennas up. Switch to Mike Allen shouldn't hurt either. Deserves a second chance against these. Bet win and save with 1,3,4/7 exactas and an All/7/1,3,4 triple.

4th - Exacta box 2,4,7

5th - A soft wager, Sarah's Image (PP1). Sarah has moved through her conditions like a child skipping down Main Street on a sunny spring day. Posted an 88 and an 82 in last two, today's par is 73. A speedball with the rail in a 5F sprint is a handicappers dream. Bet win and 1/3,5 exactas. Save with 3/1/5 and 5/1/3 triples.

6th - Exacta box 2,6,7

7th - Tri key 7/1,2,4,9/1,2,4,9

8th - Exacta box 6,7 and trifectas 6,7/1,2/6,7 for a saver.

9th - Exacta box 4,5 and trifectas 4,5/6,8/4,5 for a saver and DD's 4,5/2,3

10th - Exacta box 2,3
