On Playable Races

Unlike the professionals who must pick a winner in every race, The Tampa Bay Downs Handicapper will focus only on playable races. If you're an action junkie, you're in the wrong blog. Most races are not playable, period. Reflexively, we ask each other what horse we "like" in every race. However, when we are reflective in our thinking, we often recognize that the horses we "like" will not hold up under the kind of scrutiny that staying profitable requires. So when you see only one or two selections (maybe more, maybe less) each day, don't despair. It only means that these selections can be bet with confidence. If you need your action fix (and I've been there) go for it, but do it at the $2 window. Have a great day!
