Tampa Bay Downs Selections - 12/11/07

Results 0-2 ($4.00) (0-1-0)

I flew down to Tampa for opening day and the place was mobbed. It was a beautiful day and it looks like the crowd is getting younger. Thats the good news. The bad news is the renovations theyv'e done to the plant. Their quest to make more and more space to serve the ever growing Poker crowd has turned the once spacious interior of the building into a maze of sorts, with narrow hallways that twist and turn. And there are fewer windows to bet at too! Enough about that. Westcoasteastcoast ($8.10-1) rallied but was too late and had to settle for second money of $7.80 in the third. In the 7th, Babalo ($22.70-1) stopped at the top of the stretch after racing forwardly throughout. We'll keep an eye on him in the coming weeks.

Today, we'll focus on the late double (races 9 & 10).

In the 9th, I've got Afleet Pardner (3) shipping in from Hawthorne after a 45 day freshener for Dale Bennett. JA Velez Jr. (two winners on Saturday) will ride. I'll box him with my namesake in the exacta, because they figure and if I don't, John's Song (2) will surely burn me.

In the 10th, it's Little Paper Boat (10)(Ramos and Rosendo teaming up again). Ramos brings them to TBD ready to go. This is a par 68 sprint and only Crazybook (4) and Supahbuckdance(11) have produced competitive figs recently and even those can't compete with Little Paper Boat's 80 & 78 in his last two races. Watch out for a short price though.

Good luck and good racing!

Johnny B.
