On Sunday, Forest Fever crashed and burned as the favorite again and I assume that gate incident in Fever's last is the reason why. I'm done with Forest Fever. Stirrup Cup ran second to Positively Charming who was much the best, but I caught the exacta and that's not all. My offline selections (I call them soft choices) continue to outperform my prime selections. I collected on Skeeter Girl ($14.40) and Holborn Circle ($11.00) capping a great day at the windows and the near misses have to go my way soon, so beginning on Tuesday, I'll be including both my prime and soft selections each day. Stay tuned...
Tuesday afternoon:
In the second, a soft wager. Dennis's Dream (PP8) won his prep race, a 6F event for non-winners of two in the past six months with a 65 on 1/18 after a six month layoff. Goes 8 1/2 today and should put up a 73 at the route. His ordinary figures beat these unless a wake up by one of the sleepers. Stack Blues (PP9) right there in first two, last on the off track, Gamble On Red (PP5) dropping ten pounds this afternoon or Jammin in the Sand (PP2) who loves the track and will find the winners circle sooner or later.
In the fourth, a soft wager. Preacher Buck (PP5) returns to 6F where he imancipated himself four races ago. Tamargo has been trying different things in ALW company and gets back to business today. Switch to Montalvo, blinkers on, dropdown. Everything adds up. My tri key has 5/1,3,7.
In the seventh, a prime bet. The SALW condition creates unique opportunities from time to time and this is one of them. Moment of Song (PP4) with RoHo aboard outclasses this group hands down. THIS IS THE BEST BET OF THE SEASON TO DATE! Find a way to make some cheddar on this one. If he is shorter that 3-2, I'll bet straight trifectas, 4/7/9,10.
In the eigth, a soft wager. R Vicarious Girl has a homecoming/victory party at the Downs today. The well traveled and well thought of Girl drops to N2L for the first time to assure victory. Bound to be a crowd favorite though. My colleague Tom Williams (see the link to Tampa Bay Ups & Downs) likes Hurricane Nikki (PP3) and he's got the eye, so there you have the exacta.
In the tenth, a soft wager. Prosico (PP6) a very reliable sort, returns to TBD after an L1-3 for Dale Bennett. Works are great. Centeno is up. In addition to a win bet, I'll play a $10 triple key, 6/4,8/4,8 just for fun.
Good luck and good racing!
Johnny B.

Hey John, "our" exacta paid as much as my pick 3 (and I lost money), go figure. I hate going deep and ending up with three chalks, but it beats tearing them up. You're on a roll lately. Keep it up.
Tom
