On Thursday, a wild afternoon. I only managed to put up nine 2nd's & 3rd's after most of the races were won by longshots. In the seventh, Disco Bunny finished 3rd, beaten by My Monarchos, the one year layoff and Zaam Time (17-1). In the feature, Positively Charming came up empty at even money. The ups and downs of racing. So it goes...
Yesterday was a down day. Today is February 29th, so let's leap forward and make yesterday a bad memory!
On Friday, a card full of cheap races and the board provides the guidance.
1st - Exacta box 2,3,7
2nd - Exacta key 3/2,4,9
3rd - Tri key box 6,9/6,9/1,5,7
4th - Exacta key 3/6,7,8
5th - Tri key 8/3/All
6th - An interesting contest and a possible soft wager. Three of the entries come out of the race that Onotheregoestokyo posted a whopping 113 on the turf at the same distance on 2/12. Two of the three are AE's. So here it goes. Future Drama (PP1) is the only one sure to go. He put up an 86 in that race (today's par is 75) and has a clean, respectable record. The AE's Manchu Prince (PP12) put up a 100, and Gran Cesare (PP11) an 88, respectively. If these two AE's don't go, then the wager is Future Drama for the win and the exacta key 1/3,5,13, otherwise it's an exacta box with three of these in descending order (according to which horses go): 1/12/11/5/13/3. Got it?
7th - Exacta key 9/1,8
8th - Exacta box 3,6,8
9th - Exacta box 1,5
10th - A soft wager, My Philly (PP1). Philly posted an above par, solid race at today's distance and condition on 1/10. In his next, he moved way up in class and stopped after the race was taken off the grass. Last time out, in ALW N2X he chased and faded in a 5F sprint that boasted fractions of 21 flat and 43 4/5ths with a 56 1/5th final time. OK, the variant was +5 that day. Today he returns to C25 and Ruth Cook would love to make him 10/30 lifetime. JJ Garcia rides again. A solid bet if ever there was one.
11th - Exacta key 5/6,7,10
