On Sunday, in the eigth, Acqua Azul had nothing left after being kept to pressure throughout and finished 3rd. In my contenders only selections, the 9th race exacta box clicked for $61.60, making the day only half as bad as it might have been. So it goes...

Horseplayers are alot like bodybuilders. We reach a plateau and either become dissolutioned or like a winning horse, we dig in determinedly and work through it. After 62 race days, I'm down $9.80, but the momentum has been with me lately. So now is the time to break out, rather then cower in self-doubt and indecisiveness. Let's go!

1st - DD 4,7/6

2nd - A soft wager, Caricaturist (PP6). Above par in last three, switch to Centeno is the best indicator of the likelihood of getting to the winners circle one could ask for. The rest of the field is weak, save for Queens Crumpets (PP5) who should improve on the dropdown. Bet 6 to win and a 5,6 saver exacta box.

3rd - A soft wager, Once More (PP7). Another weak field of subpar plodders. Once More gets the nod once more. Has been right there in last two and last work indicates continued readiness. Proctor bats .260 with his maiden claimers. Beware the short price. Bet 7 to win and a 7/3,6,11 exacta key, in hope of a decent return.

4th - Exacta box 2,9

5th - Exacta box 2,5,9

6th - A soft wager, Stevebiscuit (PP5). Looking for a speed duel from 1,6 & 7, setting up Steve for a strong late run at the leaders. A solid performer, I think it's Steve's turn this afternoon. Bet 5 to win and a 5/1,3,6 exacta box.

7th - Tri key 7/2,9,12

8th - Exacta box 8/4,5,6

9th - DD 3,4,9/7

10th - Exacta box 4,5,7
