On Saturday, in the 4th, El Poppie raced forwardly but had nothing left for the drive and finished out of the money. In the 7th, Tight Precision let the leaders get away early, closed well making up lots of ground late, but had to settle for third. In the 9th, my only prime bet of the day, Repenting, won by about 6 lengths and finished the 7F in 1:22.6, a huge effort. Repenting paid $4.00. In the 10th, D'artagnan's Spirit gave the speedballs too much of a lead early and was wearing down the leaders late, but could not get up in time finishing fourth by a length and a half at 7-1 odds. Among my contenders only selections, my $10 early Daily Double wager clicked for $80.40. My $12 2nd race exacta box returned $27.80. My 6th race $12 exacta box returned $15.20. My $8 12th race exacta box clicked for $25.40. So it goes....
On Sunday, all the pomp and circumstance is over and with a bit of a racing hangover, I go back to the business of trying to find winners among a card full of cheap platers.
1st - Exacta box 3/7,8 and DD 3,7,8/5
2nd - A soft wager, Agent Danseur (PP5). Agent Danseur just missed in last after dropping to the C5 1Y level for the first time in a long time. Seven of last ten were above par, including two at TBD this season. Beaten favorite in last three. It's now or never. I'm betting the DD, win and I'm saving with a 5/8,9 exacta box.
