Results 8-26 +$4.20 (8-2-0)
Yesterday, in the eigth, the big money ($1.40-1) was on Jet Prop (and Centeno) setting up the price for Grandpa's Brat and she set a solid pace for six furlongs, but was unable to shake free of Hurry Up Hilliard before fading in deep stretch. Uno Way Calle broke in the air. So it goes...
This afternoon in the eigth I've got De Roode (PP2) on top. The five year old had his 6.5F tightener two weeks ago running a respectable third behind Holiday Moment, who will be looking to make it two in a row but this time at 1 1/16 miles. A decent effort from the always consistent De Roode puts him in front at the wire. Holiday Moment will be right there again. Keystone Point was the beaten favorite in his last three, enough said.
The feature (9th) is an ALWN2X/OC32 event at 1 Mile on the Turf. I've got Jaunty Gale (PP7) on top. The 4YO filly has shown improvement in six starts in a row since June 7th with the singular exception of her last, which was her first time over a yielding turf course at the Downs on 12/22. The course should be firm today and the improvement will continue. Carlos Monalvo gets the ride again for trainer Peter Wasiluk Jr.
In the 10th and final it's Big Deisel (PP4). Big Deisel had speed to the final furlong on 12/22 at 7F. Two weeks later, he put in an even effort at 5F and now comes back on four days rest to 6F, at the lowest level (MC8) in his brief career. Look for Big Deisel to take'em wire to wire in the nightcap.
Good luck and good racing!
