Tampa Bay Downs Selections - 2/26/08

Results 39-137 (28%) -$24.00 (39-15-20) (54% ITM)

On Sunday, Blind River Fox managed only a third, completing the short triple in the 9th race, which was won by my second choice, It's His Time ($7.20). In the 11th, Contreras came through with Pegann who won easily, paying $8.40. Lookinforthesecret was hand ridden to another easy victory. So it goes...

On Tuesday, a good card and an opportunity to clean up.

1st - Exacta box 4,7

2nd - A soft wager. All Hail Stormy (PP4). Stormy looks for win number nine, switching from the grass to the dirt in this 6F test for N2Y. Drops from open C16 where last two were contested with a flying pace up front at 5F. The class of the race hands down. Look for HVG to be up close and hit the gas pedal in deep stretch. Tri key 4/1,7,11.

3rd - Exacta key 7/3,4,9

4th - Excata box 2,9

5th - Exacta key 1/7,8

6th - A soft wager, Irish Ballerina (PP6). Second start at TBD showed great improvement and Ballerina is usually above par (7 of last 10). Expect further improvement today. I'll key the 6/2,8,10 in the exacta.

7th - The best bet I've seen in weeks. A prime wager, Unbridled Heat (PP6). Fontana was ready 9 days ago and Thompson was stuck in traffic. Unbridled Heat broke poorly and almost went to his knees, was last entering the first turn, made up all the lost ground on the backstretch then responded when asked only to find the hole he wanted to slip through disappear. He was taken up sharply and the race was over. Unless one of the recent grads surprises, this one is over. I'm betting the 6 to win and making a 1,6,9 exacta box if the prices look right. Don't miss out.

8th - Exacta box 1,6,7

9th - Exacta box 2,6,9

10th - Exacta box 2,4,7

Good luck and good racing!

Absolutely great pick on the 7th race with Unbridled Heat, John! I couldn't get past the Bennett horse already having beaten him, but you know Fontana's MO and cashed. Not sure why Velez had the nine that close to the pace, but that's secondary. Way to go!
