On Saturday, in the 4th, Ontherockswithsalt dueled early, drew off in the stretch, then faltered as the $1.70-1 favorite, finishing out of the money. In my contenders only selections, my 1st race $8 exacta box returned $14.00. In the 3rd, half of my exacta box scratched and the other half won and paid $7.20. My 9th race $4 exacta box returned $16.40. So it goes...
On Sunday, cheap races and another excuse to take it easy.
1st - Tri key 4/8/2,7,9,10 and DD 4/2
2nd - Exacta wheel 2/All
3rd - Exacta box 6,8,9
4th - Tri box 2,3,6 (This is as cold as they come.)
5th - A soft wager, Wild Inquiry (PP1). Wild Inquiry ran one of the most erratic races I've ever seen on 1/4. In that race he broke very alertly, led by about two on the backstretch, then raced extremely wide and lost almost all his momentum, then, he rushed back up to the leaders and raced with them into the stretch, finishing about six lengths behind the winner. It was an impressive middle move (of sorts) and I've been waiting for him to race again for months. Lynn Scace does a good job with L1-3's (23% Win and 50% ITM). If Wild Inquiry keeps his mind on racing for 1:18 or so, it's over. I'm betting across the board and a 1,7 exacta box. I'll save with a 7/1,3,4,10/1,3,4,10 tri key.
6th - Exacta box 4,5,6
7th - Exacta box 2,11
8th - A soft wager, Best Westerner (PP10).The lightly raced Best Westerner, from the barn of Jamie Ness put up a par 75 in last 18 days ago on the grass. Further improvement is expected this afternoon. Daniel Centeno rides again. Bet win and a 10/4,6 exacta box for a saver.
9th - Exacta box 2/5,6,7 and DD 2/4,5
10th - Exacta box 4,5
